Join Wellington Fire Support Unit
We are always on the look out for suitable recruits to join our unit, especially if you live and/or work within the Eastern suburbs of Wellington. To be considered you must have a clean Police record, be reliable and prepared to respond, when available, at all times of the day or night.
The first stage of the process is a formal interview with the Officer in Charge of the unit where your application to join will be completed. Your application will be forwarded to National Headquarters, where it will be vetted and security checks completed. If your application is accepted you will then be able to join out unit as a probationary member.
Probationary membership lasts for six months, during which time candidates will be briefed concerning brigade protocols and personal safety. During this stage, operational training will be started. During the initial stages of training, recruits are not rostered to an operational crew.
Full membership of the unit will only occur once initial training has been completed and the recruit has been voted in at a regular brigade meeting.
We're looking for people who are:
- Fit and healthy
- Keen to learn
- Safety conscious
- Able to follow instructions
- Up for a challenge
- Community minded
