Welcome to our newly revamped website. As at this date it’s still a work-in-progress – but ultimately you’ll find a bunch of information about the Wellington Operational Support Unit, the history of Operational Support (and Fire Police) in Wellington, and more.
As volunteers within Fire and Emergency New Zealand, we’re pleased to support our community in the role of Operational Support Firefighters, a function that is 100% volunteer (unpaid). We attend major emergencies across Wellington and provide ‘operational support’ to front-line Firefighters – paid and volunteer, urban/built and rural/natural environments – and to other emergency services on request. We also love to get out into the community, sharing fire safety messages and contributing to our community wellbeing and resilience – something we’ve been doing in Wellington since 1899 (and before; check out our Brigade History).
